None are required to play or enjoy the game, they are just extras to make your adventuring a little more convenient or to thanks the dev with a little well deserved compensation.Hopefully he’ll continue to update this game with more content, which would just make an already exceptional experience even better. This game has a great balance of challenge and comfort. For example, you don’t have a map for a level—until you find it! This sets a tone of danger and mystery as you explore and find secrets. Then when you have the map the room shapes help you go back through the dungeon to see if you missed anything. Really a joy to play.
