It doesn't but anyone who picks up hoi4 can look anything up and thousands of results will pop up, from video tutorials to in-depth guides on just about anything in the game, to the smallest detail. Here's the thing! A lot of that 'documentation' by the community can also apply or at the very least be modified a bit to apply in most of the mods out there (including MD and KR, but excluding The Great War). You install MD4 and everything is SO different, that, most of what you know is void and you have to learn everything by trial and error due to the lack of guides etc.I suggest you guys put out a robust guide detailing the combat mechanics, how to effectively run the armed forces and a few guidelines on goverment priorities. It's too much new information that people get discouraged when they realize they have to forget what they know and learn a new game from scratch.Personally, I had been waiting for so long for MD4 (since AG's project with the 2014 start) and following every bit of info as it came out and tried to enter with an open mind even though I disliked the political system (outlooks instead of political parties). I understand that there's no real solution for the perfect political system, thanks to paradox not implementing one in the base game (as it is, it's extremely underwhelming and barebones in vanilla). Even so, I find that the ruined immersion that comes with the outlook system far outweighs the -arguably- better gameplay mechanics it introduces!

That's my personal opinion but I assure you it's the opinion of a lot of people trying to decide between MD and MD4.I hope you take the time to read through this and get back to me with your thoughts!. In our discord, steam and even in the first pop up when you launch the game we advertise our, which explains almost every mechanic in the game.MD4 was the first modern day mod announced, with development starting in March 15 2016, HOI4 launched in July. Algerians mod was merged into MD4 in mid 2017.What the average player doesn't realize is that there are only 4 political AI styles. This means the AI will only act in 4 different ways and for every extra ideology your creating a duplicate that will act exactly the same as another one.

E.g if you have 12 ideologies, you really only have four, as the new ideoligies will follow the AI style you assigned to them (fascist, communist, democratic or neutral).Further ideologies mean almost nothing in the modern world, the US largely broke this 'norm' (or what is perceived as a norm) in the cold war aligning itself with dictators and even Communist China to meet its geopolitical goals and to maintain regional stability. Ideologies play an even lesser role in the modern world.Communist Vietnam hates Communist China and Is aligning itself with democratic USA. Democratic Philippines is alligning itself with Communist China. Russia which is officially a 'Republic' is alligning with Communist China in alot of its goals. Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand are all monarchies. So what sense does it make in the 21st century to base allegiances (which is what ideologies represent in hoi4) off of ideology? Countries don't care, they allign with whomever shares mutual interests with them. Though I'll admit ideology and culture plays a small role, which we partially represent with ideology drifts.'

No nation has friends only interests.' - Charles de GaulleGoing forward there will be a system introduced to represent domestic politics and thus something closer to ideologies.Edit: spelling and grammar.Edit 2: when I mean a new system is introduced, a system unrelated to outlooks. Outlooks will be staying but a new system will be coming that compliments it to further represent domestic politics. I'm not sure what made you think I disagree with any of what you said about ideologies. I specifically said that lack of immersion is what's bothering me about this new system even though this system is far superior in terms of gameplay. When I say immersion, I mean political parties, leaders, government cabinets etc. It was a relief when I found out there'll be an election system, I'll definitely give it a serious try when it comes out.

Frag pro shooter hacks. I know about the wiki and I've read most of it, what I'm looking for is more specific strategies and ways I need to change up my play style. The wiki tells me combat width has been redone and arbitrarily tells me to kiss my 7x2 template goodbye while not providing an example of a balanced division I should replace it with.I did not know AG's project was a separate one but rather thought it was the first and when more people got interested in something similar, it all merged into what's MD4 today. Between Millenium Dawn, Modern Day 4 and Modern War 4 (original AG project name, I think) you can see how one might get confused!. I'm not sure what made you think I disagree with any of what you said about ideologies.Apologies, It's was an assumption as It's one of the main complaints we hear over and over from people who want like 20 ideologies.what I'm looking for is more specific strategies and ways I need to change up my play style. The wiki tells me combat width has been redone and arbitrarily tells me to kiss my 7x2 template goodbye while not providing an example of a balanced division I should replace it with. The core concepts of what you want in a unit are the same as vanilla, high org, soft attack and etc. I can't give you the best template as I don't know what it is and we don't want there to be any cookie cutter templates but for units to excel in specific situations thus forcing the player to have a mix of units. In addition we're continuously adjusting units based on player feedback, glitches and there are still more doctrines to come in the near future which will further change the meta.Feel free to let us know what templates you use!I did not know AG's project was a separate oneHahahaa ya i can see why, there were too many Modern Day mods but they've slowly consolidated as these type of mods are huge time sinks and require really skilled and dedicated teams to see them through.

Luckily we have that and there may be more surprises in the near future too;). MD4 is better. Although MD4 is still in development, it's still better because MD4 is actually a modern day mod that employs dynamics that represent today's reality.Millennium Dawn is like updated tech trees + updated countries with same mechanics as the base game. For example, MD4 employs a system consisting of GDP per capita + GDP to Debt Ratio + Governing policies that affect education, healthcare etc; as a result, Uganda doesn't have the same research potential as Germany. Another example is ideologies. Ideologies do not matter in modern politics.

There's nothing common in alignment of 2 Islamic regimes - Iran and Saudi Arabia. In MD4, ideologies are represented as NATO-sphere aka the ones happy with status quo that is US being the world's police - Emerging (Russia + China + others who want to challenge that status quo) etc.
